Life with Tina

Tina and I grew up together as we were only two years apart. I remember a lot of experiences with her. We played a lot of "horse" and "around-the-world" together on the driveway basketball court. Tina was a very good shot. I teased her incessantly and her favorite phrase was "knock it off!" I remember once hiding a listening device (bug) at her slumber party and later blackmailing her (such a loving brother). She didn't always enjoy me tormenting her and teasing her, but she told me more than once she expected it and knew how much I loved her. I remember one trip to Yellowstone National Park with Dad, Mom, myself, and Tina. We had only gotten a short distance when Dad pulled over and said we wouldn't go any further unless we quit fighting. We did quit (kind of) and had a memorable family trip together. As kids, we got in our fair number of sibling arguments but we had a great, close relationship throughout. I remember in high school regularly coming home from school and getting a burrito with cheese and some fries at the Golden Wheel. She got me into watching a soap opera every day after school and we would watch that together. I remember driving her each day to early-morning seminary. We spent a lot of time together on the trampoline and in the pool. Weeding the garden was one chore we were assigned during the summers. More than once, I would start a dirt-clod fight and we would get into trouble for not working. Tina and I were very close when I left for my mission. She was a faithful, weekly letter writer and I was so grateful for her loyalty. She saved up her own money so that she could go with Mom and Dad to Europe and meet me after the mission. She wanted to surprise me and I did not know she was coming until I walked into the hotel where they were staying. We had a great trip except Tina was a bit disappointed because she thought the trip was going to be mostly laying around on the beach in the south of France. She is a big Sound of Music fan so one of the highlights was doing the Sound of Music Tour in Austria. Tina and I attended Ricks College together and we both met our future spouses there at about the same time. We double dated and went on trips together to visit family. It was the beginning of a great relationship with our two families. After both of us got married, we would often travel to each others' places to spend weekends together. We played a lot of boggle and other games and Tina became proficient at making pizza sandwiches and her famous dip. She would always ask when we showed up if we wanted a pizza sandwich or some snacks. We had a blast as our kids became best friends and we did so much together during those years. Tina and I were very close and she was always too generous in her kindness to me. She was quick to compliment and offer assistance of any kind. She always made me feel better about myself. I lover her so much and will miss her terribly.
